Hiking
Numerous hiking trails allow you to discover Umbria, the green heart of Italy: the Monti Sibillini National Park, Mount Subasio, Monte Cucco; breathtaking landscapes and views.
You can join the St Francis Way which passes 5 km from our property and walk up to the Tomb of San Francesco. We will arrange to pick you up and bring you back to Gaiattone.
You can also try caving and explore the caves of the Monte Cucco Regional Park.
Visit to the medieval cities: Perugia, Gubbio, Spello, Spoleto, Assisi
Long isolated from the neighbouring regions, Umbria has preserved its medieval architectural heritage.
Visit Perugia, the capital of Umbria, and admire its beautiful monuments, especially those in Piazza IV November.
In Assisi, located at the foot of Mount Subasio, home of St. Francis, you will discover La Basilica and its frescoes by Giotto, Martini and Cimabue, and the numerous churches that document the evolution from Romanesque to Gothic.
Spoleto, with the remains of the Cyclopean walls, the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta built in 1067, remarkable for the frescoes of Pintoricchio and Filippo Lippi, and the Rocca Albornoziana, a former fourteenth century papal fortress.
Spello, surrounded by fertile land for cultivating olives and vines, famous for the frescoes of the Pintoricchio in the Baglioni Chapel of the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore.
Gubbio, a medieval town perched on the slopes of Mount Ingino.
